Daria is thrilled that the following artists have contributed their music to the The Prairie Bridesmaid Soundtrack. All of the music connects to the themes and ideas of the book. Daria believes that there is a natural link between literature and music and she is really excited to have been able to explore those muscial connections. She is eternally grateful to the artists for sharing their music.

On behalf of the book and the soundtrack that comes with the book Daria is donating some of the proceeds to the women's shelter Osborne House.

The Artists

Sarah Slean - "No Place At All" from her album The Baroness
www.sarahslean.com
Daria is a huge Sarah Slean fan and she got chills when she heard the song "No Place At All" as it captures the heart of the book and the struggles of the main character.

Scott Nolan - "Dutch" from the album Receiver/Reflector
www.scottnolan.ca
Scott Nolan's song "Dutch" opens with the line "I'm so tired of weddings, I've stopped making friends." Brilliant. There are several songs from Scott's album that fit The Prairie Bridesmaid beautifully and it was tough to choose a song. The Prairie Bridesmaid protagonist, Anna, might have uttered the opening words in "Dutch".

Snailhouse - "Birds and Bees" from the album The Silence Show

Daria interprets this musically fascinating song as a cautionary tale about love and about the importance of slowing down. "Birds and Bees" addresses the central question in the book, "What if Anna had slowed down?"

Jill Barber - "Hard Line" from her album For All Time
www.jillbarber.com
Daria's husband Rob (record label guy) introduced her to Jill Barber. She became an instant fan and she's never turned back. Daria is delighted that Jill is part of the soundtrack. "Hard Line" is a fantastic tune about walking away from love. This song wraps itself right around Anna from The Prairie Bridesmaid!

Chantal Vitalis - "More Captured Than Released" from the album Today's Special
www.chantalvitalis.com
Chantal has a beautiful voice and a beautiful ballad in "More Captured Than Released." The title of this song could have been the title of the book.

Greg Macpherson - "Ukrainians" - Original unreleased song
gregmacpherson.com
Gmac has been a staple in Daria's music collection for a long time; Greg's enthusiasm for the soundtrack concept spurred Daria on to make it happen. "Ukrainians" is a uniquie narrative song that complements The Prairie Bridesmaid. It provides a possible backstory for the Baba character, it offers personal perspective on the Ukrainian immigrant experience.

Keri Latimer - "Careful Now" - Original unreleased song
www.nathanmusic.ca
Keri read The Prairie Bridesmaid and responded with this song. "Careful Now" pulls at the soul of this book and Daria gets teary EVERYTIME she listens to it. The chorus "I forget what I deserve," illuminates Daria's purpose for writing The Prairie Bridesmaid.
